Perween Rahman: Justice Served

After eight long years, justice for Perween Rahman has finally been served. On December 17, 2021, an anti-terrorism court in Pakistan sentenced four men to life for the murder of Perween Rahman, the Director of the Orangi Pilot Project and the woman on the whom the film INTO DUST is based.

The verdict is celebrated by all who loved Perween Rahman, perhaps most of all by her sister, Aquila Ismail, who fought long and hard in the courts for this result.

Perween Rahman was an acclaimed and admired social activist who worked tirelessly to improve the lives of impoverished people all over Pakistan. She was instrumental to the work of the Orangi Pilot Project, a world renowned community development organization that worked on myriad issues, including water and housing rights. You can learn more about Perween here

Perween dedicated her life to justice in its many forms: housing, economic, environmental, and social. We celebrate her life by continuing to raise awareness of her legacy through INTO DUST, and our partnerships with leaders in the fight for water justice. In  memory of Perween Rahman, and to help Aquila Ismail continue her groundbreaking work, we hope you’ll be able to donate to the Orangi Pilot Project.
